I delved into my stash and two different 1952 pieces of lit. show the Mayfair and the convertible as having three porta-vents. I still like the four! The Patrician looks good with them - why not the sportier autos that year?

IMHO, it follows a pattern of model stratification, with Patrician being at the top of the line. IIRC, Buick did soemthing similar with number of ventiports, with four on the Roadmaster, but three on the rest.
