I'm glad to know that the man in question is alive and well. When I talked to the rebuilder in California he made a number of inaccurate comments, which I regard as red flags. He felt all 56s were pushbutton (mine is not, for which I am grateful).

As for asking around....that's what this post is.

Sadly, both Ross (who comes highly recommended) and Jack (with whom I have had excellent dealings) are far far away from me.

Is there any particular reference material on adjusting the Ultramatic linkage that is recommended? After I post this I will go back to the manual and look.....

This is starting to take shape; I very much appreciate all the feedback.
