The ignition switch on 23rd series actually has a light in it. This web site lists this as one of the differences or improvements on 23rd series cars over 22nd series. I tried it out on my 49 Deluxe Eight, it barely lights at all (very dim) and only goes on when the parking lights are on. You would have to turn on the parking lights to illuminate the switch, and it would have to be practically pitch black inside the car to notice it. the light goes out when you push in the headlight switch a second time to turn on the headlights. I am not sure if the light is part of the switch or just connected to the opening.
