Just for everyone on this topic I have had my steering wheel off and filled all the cracks with #Quicksteel# (sets in four minutes) then rubbed down, K2 primed and then painted by the bodyshop in the same cream as the roof - paint is water based and hardens with age - not expecting any wear - anyways these are not regular user cars doing 40,000 miles a year are they ? (bet someone out there contradicts this !!!)Photo as was added.Photo as is added.
She is now at the upholstery shop for a new headlining plus carpets etc. See my new topic #Rear shelf above rear seat back# - you may be able to help me.

Original for 22nd Series, I believe 23rd Series had brown vent and heater knobs. (At least the ones I've seen have been brown.)

Can steering wheels be sent away to be professionally enameled and restored?

Can the paints be got at same place you buy engine paints?

If you have the plastic wheels there are several places that do them. Here's a couple.qualityrestorations.com/packard.htmlsteeringwheelsusa.com/ There are probably places there you might find that does wheels as well -- although might not have the correct colors unless a European car used them.


If you have the painted type, you or any good auto refinish shop should be able to do them with modern catalyst type paints with hardener. I did one on a 54 several years ago using Dupont Imron and it turned out very well. Still looks new today.

They look like new.

The ivory wheel I remember was on my grandmother's 37 Buick.
It seemed translucent as best I can remember it and these restorations don't seem to duplicate that quality. Perhaps they can't and still be UV resistant???
