Well I got more done today. I managed to get the tyres removed from the rims. I grit blasted the wheels and got them into primer. I also managed to get a few coats of olive drab on one side of the wheels. I also managed to scrape of the grime from the gear box. I masked up the areas from grit and blasted the box, i also got this in primer. Got to fit a new oil seal.

Thanks for those kind words. Well I have managed to get more work done today, firstly I painted the other side of the wheels. I then pulled all the drums off and cleaned them all up getting rid of any dust or grit, the wheel cylinders were renewed a few months back so the hubs are in pretty good order anyway. I also managed to fit the new rear brake pipe and flexi. I have to buy another coil of brake pipe to finish the lines off. I also have new copper pipe for the fuel line. I also managed to get the gear box painted. And also fit the master cylinder. That is about it, will carry on with the car on monday.

Well I have now got all the new brake pipes made and fitted to the car where required. I have also got all the fuel tank painted. Just got to glue on some webbing to the fuel tank straps and then the tank can be fitted. I also have the new pipe for the fuel line.

Well I have got the webbing fitted to the fuel tank straps and i have got the fuel tank refitted. I have also fitted the new fuel line. I have also had the tyres fitted to the tyres to the newly painted wheels. I plan to get the new clutch fitted tomorrow along with the gear box to the engine and bolt all this back into the chassis. Just a question I forgot to mark the old clutch plate what face pints to the flywheel could some one tell me what face goes against the fly wheel please. Thanks Howard

Looking good and lots of progress.

I believe the clutch plate will only fit with lining flush or flat to the flywheel one way but if not, the extended side of the splined hub goes toward the pressure plate.

Well i have got a little bit more done on the car. I have blasted the radiator surround and also some of the linkages for the gears. I have also got these primed in red oxide. I have also fitted the new clutch luckily I had a lining tool that fitted so that made easy work of getting it straight. I also fitted a new Pilot bearing. I was hoping to of fitted the gear box to the engine but remembered i needed a new clutch release bearing. So I will have to wait until this arrives. Have attached a few pics.

Hopefully the little pin sticking into the hole in the bellhousing that the throwout collar spring attaches to did not fall out and get lost like mine did.

Out of curiosity, how much wear is on your long transmission rod ends and do they have the solid steel bushings at each hole at the idler assy or are they still the original prewar rubber and steel items.

Hi, the end on the control rods have little rubbers in there, regards a little pin I cant find any sign of a pin or a hole, I think the spring attaches to a small cast loop on the gear box casing.

Does any body know what this clip was used for on the steering column, the clip has small plastic type rollers, I did wonder if its for a flash light.

I have managed to get the radiator surround top coated in black gloss. I have also prepped and primed and top coated the steering column and steering box. I am hoping to have the engine fitted on monday.
