BDC:

Everyone who knows about Packards remembers the world famous Partition. A very rare model, this car was produced only so long as it took for the guys in the factory to notice that its name was misspelled! A second Packard Partition almost sold at a Mecum auction last year for $645,000; unfortunately that bid did not meet the reserve.

Rarer than the Partition is the 1953 Packard Sargasso, which was supposed to be an upscale Caribbean; but like the Partition, the Sargasso didn't float!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is something rather odd about the Partition's grill ...

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

The Partition really marked a dividing point in postwar design.

Packard was hoping to carve out a niche market with the Partition, but sadly they left the door open to competition and thus was born the Cubicle

I'm pretty sure that Los Angeles ad is misspelled -- judging from the condition, it should actually be a Packard Perdition.

Hi

Shouldn't a '53 Packard "Partition" be a Derham Formal Sedan or Corporate Limousine....?! Pity that poor Cavalier just suffering an identity crisis imitating a Buick.

Here's another '53 Cavalier, list 32,900 mile original worth a look, no photos yet:

And, a few cheap '55 Clipper sedans strewn around the mid-west that haven't found new homes yet:

1929 phaeton. Interesting to see the labels on the suitcases in the trunk

Very cool. However, based on the tall windshield, and carriage-style door handles, I believe that car is a 7-passenger touring, not a phaeton.

Wow! That '29 is right next door to me in Sterling, VA. Great car, too bad I'd have to go into debt and get a divorce to buy it!
