The check ball just lays in the bottom of the pump well in the 4GC (though I've seen 'em stuck in units salvaged from parts car that sat in a field for years). Some time a good rap with a small hammer from the opposite side of the fuel bowl will dislodge them.

However, the Carter WCFB has check ball retainer that is lightly pressed into the bottom of the pump well.

Riki, Motorcraft part # COAZ-9202B looks like it relates to a tank sender unit float, not carby floats. Is there another number for carby floats? Cheers, John
