Who would have thought batteries would be complicated?

Our choice seems to be one which the shop says is more like the original 19" long, 4" wide and 10" high, with 1025 CA and 850 CCA

OR

12" long, 6 1/2" wide and 10" high (more like a "regular" battery) 1250 CA and 1000 CCA

Neither will fit so we will have to make adjustments.

Does anyone have any recommendations or does it matter? Did original battery sit in the same spot as regular battery (front on driver side?).

Thank you!

The 19" long is for cars prior to 51. Your 53 needs a group 2 size. Here is a thread from a few days ago with some recommendations and in the second post a link to an older thread that has a couple of more.

I got the one for my 51 Packard from Les Schwab but I still have the 6 volt system.

Farm supply stores are a good source for 6 volt batteries as a lot of older tractors and equipment use them.
