Solonoids

The solonoids on my torsion level pooped out. I have two proper new ones for my 56 Patrician. It is my understanding from Mr. Pushbutton's explanation of their operation that they are energized by connecting one of the side terminals to a positive line and grounding the center terminal. I cannot get them to work on the bench. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Bernardi

If your replacement solenoids are the same as the original type they should energize when power is supplied to the upper set of terminals in the attached photo and the small center terminal is connected to ground (negative for 1956)

Thank you. That is the way I interpreted the instructions.

They should not be polarity sensitive. Test them with voltage to one side terminal and the top. If that doesn't work, try the other side terminal to the top. It it still doesn't work, try the top to the case. If it works in that last try, the solenoids are the wrong type. If none of the combinations work, bad solenoid or wrong voltage solenoid.
