Interesting video. The skinny man with the 55 Constellation is not me, but one of the charter members of Packards North Texas. He had a fire in the engine compartment, and the car has been in his garage ever since.

My 55 Patrician is in there. It has the 51 hubcaps. Yes, I am in there as well, a few pounds lighter, and more dark hair on my head.

The last part of the tape was choppy for me. That was shot at the Ridgemar shopping mall. Your grandfather set up a few of theses around the area.

Thanks for posting.

Boy did I like the trains! WOW what a set up.

Trains and automobiles - just great! My two favorite hobbies.
It doesn't get any better than that.

yeah this was a treat to see. tons of packards and a bit of trains mixed in. i believe the train scenes are shot at what is now Lockheed Martin Recreational Facility....was General Dynamics at the time...GDRA...now LMRA

i don't remember the red bathtub at all, not sure if he owned that or if it was someone elses.

Mike, you were much thinner.....as i'm sure i'll see myself when i get to your age. ahhhh..such is life eh?? I'm glad you are my friend though ;0)

yeah the end of the tape is horrible, but these tapes have been around, dusty, and even a bit water damaged....so i'm lucky they even turned out this well.

i remember the mall events, not sure you could get away with that nowadays...and if you did...it may be hard to get people to do it....to much disrespect in the public these days it seems and the cars might get damaged....and/or the mall wouldn't want the liability. not sure how my grandfather worked all that out.

i believe this is another reason a certain person doesn't bring "Old Blue" to Salado anymore.

One things for sure...these videos make me want to own a decent driver while i restore the constellation. its hard to own one and never get to drive it cause its in pieces and a long term restoration.

for the prices i see on some of the pretty good looking v8s on ebay...i could have just bought one and been in it for way less money and time and been enjoying it by driving it.

i'm not bitter, just wish i had one to drive is all.

too bad about the one caught fire and was parked in the garage, wonder why he hasn't ever fixed it? is it that far gone??

David, were you in the video?? and who is that Chris person my Gpa keeps talking too???

Hank

Chris, owns the 55 Constelation. I sent this link to him, as well as others I saw in the video.

Hank, I think the same way about my Caribbean, one of theses days. I need to get one up and driving again. Maybe a goal for Salado, drive a Packard again!

i've never met Chris i don't think. maybe i have, don't know.

i think Jim Hollingsworth was in there and Emmett too.

i wish i had one to get up and running again. ah well...one day. probably not going to hassle with my car for Salado this year. i haven't made enough progress to show it and it was a pita to bring it last year.

here is a Video i just uploaded to youtube of my Grandfather's black 1956 Patrician "Dolly"

i guess he was trying to start a tape that would travel the country with different peoples packards on it.

i have that same grill hanging in my office that he shows in the garage near the end, i also have the sign below it. ;0) i feel special.

Henry,

Noticed that you painted the pulley black. Is that how it was? I thought they were cad plated?
