110 Oil Filter

Hi All,

My 1941 110 appears to have a stock oil filter. It's mounted to the engine right next to the oil filler cap. It has a T handle.

I'm trying to open it and after I unscrew the T handle it seems to be stuck even though it still spins. The top remains stuck as well. Does it just need a little persuasion? Don't want to beat on anything like a circus monkey unless approved.

Thanks,
Rich

Using a rubber mallet, firmly tap the side of the lid to move it laterally. That should free the gasket. I think the T retainer is a captive element, though I wait on more knowledgable to confirm/deny that concept.

Cheers

Tom

Hi All,

Just an update, filter topped popped with the suggested beating (slight tapping).

Thanks!
Rich
