I'd try the advice I was given on this forum quite some years back when this happened to me. Remove the backseat, borrow enough socket wrench extensions to make up a length sufficient to reach from the back seat to the trunk latch bolts, and remove the latching bar (or the latch) bolts. Works like a charm as long as the trunk isn't filled with luggage or other stuff that is in the way of reaching through.

Mine gives me that issue every time. I just give the round portion in the lid a thump with the palm of the hand while twisting the lock.... pops every time..

The trunk lid needs readjusting. Then it will work first time, every time. Do it at the hinges.
