Same year and technically an E36/7, so basically a 3 series. One good thing about mine.....it's a man power lowering convertible. Escape hatch.

Sucks about her, wonder if she tried to bust the window at all? I know I sure would have.

Yup Bob, cooling system is the weak point on our cars for sure! Good thing you did it!

Probably going to be very busy in the garage. I have to put down the best dog in the world tomorrow. Renal failure. And the only way I know how to not be depressed is work. Packard work is good therapy.

back in the garage. got tired of fussing with the z3, although i'm getting closer to figuring out what is causing my issue.

i did the herculiner underneath the car. PITA!!!! i had it all over the place. it was a total mess and it sucked. I still have to get under there with a smaller brush and do all the little places i couldn't reach with the roller. i hope i never have to do that to another car again. it was horrible. unless i can flip the car over, i'll just pay someone.

Hank

Clearcoated the main body today and like a massive dumbass I mixed the paint 2:1 but backwards. 2 parts activator to paint instead of 2 parts paint to 1 part activator. Figured it out half way through. Since it was so thin to start with I have some runs and sags. Pretty disappointing. I figured the car is a mess so oh well it matches the rest of it all. It is what it is. It's gonna be a 20 footer for sure. I really won't give a poop if someone leans on it or my son scraps it. It's just a car and I just want it to run reliably. Paint doesn't matter. That doesn't make it drive.

I'll post some pics later, but iits pretty bad. Almost embarrassing. But hey..... It was my first time.

Now I have to buy more activator for the other pieces of the car. Live and learn. Get back up and keep in going.

did a little trim work this weekend. just fiddling.

drip rail and the clipper symbol on the roof.

i need another trim ring for the clipper emblem on the passenger's side. it has to have the little clips on the prongs too or it wont fit.

when i took my passenger's side off a long time ago 2 of the prongs broke off and the trim ring is useless now.

scratches okay, pits not.

the underside of the car is complete now. got all the little spots I missed using a brush this time. again it was a PITA!! and i'm covered in black crap. sucked! but its done.

the 55 chevy mounting pads will be in tomorrow and i'll give them a look and see what I can do with them. if I can come up with something, this will be a nice cheap alternate to the 500 dollars worth of steele rubber. nothing against them, I just don't have that coin right now and i'm trying to be creative and keep the project going.

I've been reading up on how to remove sags and runs from clearcoat as well.

last note, anyone got one of those trim rings with the pegs and the clips for the roof emblem.....cheap?

Henry,

Have you checked the parts book on your ring trim. Seems like it is used on another car, but I can not remember. 54 Caribbean, Patrician?

Have you checked with Minnesota Mike?

Hope the body mounts work out for you.
