That is interesting and I'd like to know more about his system. What is niggling away in my mind is that if air remains in the master, how is it evacuated when fluid is poured into the remote res. I'm thinking that if there is air in the lines, it's removed by bleeding. Is this what happens with the remote system, and if so how is it setup to enable this? Cheers, JP

As you pour fluid into the remote reservoir, it runs down the connection tube into the reservoir on the MC displaying the air, the air should travel back up the tube (being the highest point in the MC) and up to the top of the remote reservoir. Having air in the reservoir does not affect brake performance as long as that air is not being sucked into the MC bore because of low fluid, which should never happen in this scenario. The vent (atmospheric) is to allow air in and out of the reservoir as the fluid comes into and out by action of the MC plunger when the brakes are used (similar to why gas tanks have a vent either in the tank or the cap) This still happens, just the vent is on the top of the remote lid, instead of on the top of the MC lid. All you are basically doing is adding a larger reservoir capacity to the system, as such the vent needs to be at the highest point. Once filled, you should see the level in the remote reservoir raise and lower just like the MC reservoir when the brakes are worked back and forth. No real voodoo or magic here.

Check this guys unit out... if it works for you great..

If not I will make it.. I like a clear tank myself so you can just look at it..

I also made a new cover which I think is better than cap ..leak wise... to hard to change that in car....so went with cap

Thanks guys. My concern was all about whether the air would travel back up the tube to the remote reservoir. In other words, whether the brake fluid higher up would allow the air bubbles to rise and pass through. If this is what happens then I'm seriously going to look at installing a system. I also prefer Riki's idea of having a clear reservoir to check, and I know Girling ones are available over here for around $30. Tubing wont be a problem so that only leaves the master cap to worry about. I don't want to impose but Riki's offer is looking good. What I'll do first though is check with brake specialists over here to see if anything the right size is available to suit the purpose. Probably not but it might save me putting the pressure on Riki. I have a spare BTV needing reconditioning so I'll take the cap off that for a sample. Cheers, John
