Dear All,

On the front axle of my car, there is an alemite grease fitting, and a bolt. The bolt goes a fair distance into the axle just interior of the king pin housing. What is it's purpose? Photo attached.

Thanks,

Tom

Alemite fitting to grease the king pin. Bolt is a steering stop (set for max steering without tire rubbing.)My totally inexperienced guess anyway.

Yup, I agree with 39Super8. Looks like you are getting the front end cleaned-up nicely.

Ah, that makes sense. Weird that it is not listed in the parts catalog, at least not under 'Front Axle'.

In later models the parts list has a section for bolts, nuts, etc. Do the earlier lists have this feature? If so that may be where it is listed.

Its a steering stop. Commonly used. Even my 88 ranger has one like it.

But what does "Framistan" mean???? Some kind of special axle they offered or something???
