For those who haven't already seen it, the link is to some photos from the most recent tour based in Cooperstown, NY. If you haven't considered one of these tours, you should - they are wonderful events and in many ways much more fun that National meets. Of the nearly 50 Packards that participated almost half were pre-war and of those 8 were 1930 or older. The next two HJ Tours are in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and the following year in Traverse City, Michigan.
One of my favorite photos indicative of the bucolic back-country touring. That's a 626 from Indiana ahead of me. Link:packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2582

Thanks Dave! It took a few tries to learn how to take that type of picture. Other than holding the steering wheel with one hand (not always easy on beam-axle cars) and balancing the camera on the top of the wheel, the secret is getting the camera closer to the windshield than the minimum focus distance so the camera doesn't try to focus on debris or scratches in the glass but rather focuses on infinity and use the largest possible f-stop to give you the greatest depth of sharp focus.

Next year's PAC Henry Joy Tour is moving a bit south to the Shenandoah Valley of VA and hopefully that will attract some of you folks from that area. Year after will be in Michigan, again a new territory for these tours and hopefully again will attract some local folks. IMO these tours are the highlight of the Packarding season, more fun that even the National meets. Here's some advance info on the 9th HJ Tour.
packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3052 PS - and another of my favorite "one-hand-on-the-wheel & thru the windshield" photos from this year's tour. Like the one above, not a utility pole or wire in sight. I wonder if there is any cell-coverage? And if there is and you have to call AAA, how do you tell them where you are without GPS?

The Henry Joy tours are a pleasure, both from the areas chosen and the Packard people you get to meet.

"but rather focuses on infinity and use the largest possible f-stop to give you the greatest depth of sharp focus."
O_D, a smaller aperture opening will increase the depth of field eg f/11, 16, 22 etc and appearance of sharp focus through smaller circles of confusion.A larger aperture opening f/2, 2.8, 4.will give an unsharp appearance to foreground and background of what depth of the image is actually focused on due to larger circles of confusion. The higher the aperture ratio number, the smaller the diaphragm opening of the lens and the resulting increased depth of field.
