Made my pilgrimage today. Checked out Gar Wood's boat and trod the pavement that Jessie Vincent trod. Most interesting takeaway: verified that the 4M-2500 is made just like a Liberty: instead of the cylinders and crankcase all being cast in one piece like usual practice today, it has a cast crankcase with individual cylinder barrels, with welded on sheetmetal water jackets, bolted to the crankcase.

Hello Steve203:
Hope you enjoyed your time at the PPG yesterday. I know I did. The turnout was in a word - SPECTACULAR! A record showing for an Open House of 41 Packards Over 275 collector/specialty cars that cruised in for the afternoon. So many visitors showed up that we are having a difficult time getting a final figure. I will post some photos later.

I'll say. It looked like I got one of the last 3 parking spots, and I got there only 45 minutes after opening. Maybe in the future the area around the hanger can be opened up to visitor parking as it was empty yesterday. As you can tell, I particularly enjoyed getting a close look at the 4M-2500. Very interesting how it's put together. The 56 Packard display chassis was fascinating too. Looking at something in the metal is always more informative that photos and drawings.

The Packards were parked between the lodge and the shop. The crowd was so thick I couldn't get any good shots. Here's a few from elsewhere on the grounds.

Here are just a few of the Packards on display between the Lodge Building and the Repair Garage.

Hi Gentlemen
Thanks for the photos, I'm green with envy, wish I could have been there. What a fine turn-out of Packards; great for the owners and club members to enjoy; great for the general public to gain positive exposure to cars unlike anything they encounter on a daily basis. A visit to PPG during this event or another Packard/Classic car gathering goes on the bucket list right now! Steve

Yes, thank you for the wonderful photos!
I must hang my head in shame, as I DID go to the event in 2013, but for some reason, it was totally off my radar this year. I did not pay attention to the post about it here, so missed it entirely. I MUST go in 2015, since Mal plans to be there!...
