1940 Trunk Floor Coating?

Before I do away with the old trunk floor I wanted to find out what the coating on it is, or if it is original. This is in a 1940 120 Convertible Coupe. It has a slightly rougher texture than undercoating and seems to be "gritty" when scraping it off. There doesn't seem to be any other paint or coating underneath it so I'm thinking that it's original.
If it is original, was the whole trunk sprayed with this or just the floor? Was it top coated with anything, body color paint? Or just left black?

I used the Flockit kit for my 39 120. I cleaned up the trunk, repaired some minor rust holes, and then painted it a flat black. I then flocked it with a gray color, covering both the sides and the floor. It looks great and covered quite well. If I were to do it again, I would have used the tan color. But it has held up great and was very easy to install.
