When I was in US army in 1965 we had the Dodge 3/4 ton truck they were the slowest form of transportation. In my view the jeep Ford type with 4 wheel independent suspension were much faster, The 2 1/2 ton GMC with automatic trans and Studebaker made Reo type were more in line with performance in I my view. When I signed some thing out of motor pool Dodge was last on my list of preferred transportation the motor pool sergeant was a friend of mine and got to pick what I wanted to drive

A "retired curmudgeon" you and I know used to use a somewhat similar epigram to that in the photo captioned "In theory, theory and practice are the same"!

Yes, we've learned a lot from Randy.

Al, thanks for the interesting first-hand account. I believe, the Soviets were dependent on using everything, that fell into their hands.

Off-road tires have been a big step forward for the Soviet Union. Thousands and thousands wheeled in through the wide open Lend-Lease gate.
The chassis for the early luxury cross-country vehicle appeared within reach.

Was the car ever realized? Yes!
One of its very rare photographies reached the Packardinfo Photo Archive by a devious route. I don't consider it to be safe but its uncommon axle track and especial the flared rear wheel well indicate the odd chap.
The whitewall tires and the small range of spring speak against the assumption.
