Here is the input shaft for the 56J. It is heavily rusted. I simply soaked it overnight in my rust desolver and the only thing that touched the shaft is a buffing wheel on the contact surface.

Yes, Evaporust is the only thing I use. I discovered it about 5 years ago when Ford and GM specified it for all their products. I get it in 55 Gal drums.

We received in two more Ultramatics this weekend, a 55 off a 320 and a 56 off a 352 clipper. Next Saturday, we will be taking in a 320 V-8.
to purchase we have 1ea 56 374 on the assembly stand 1ea 56 352 not rebuilt 1ea 55 320 not rebuilt 1ea 47 288 straight 8 complete not rebuilt 1ea 53 327 straight 8 not rebuilt 2ea 55 Ultramatic, One Cream (senior) One Red (320) 2ea 56 Ultramatic, any paint scheme 2ea 56 Ultramatic 56J (studebaker Red) 1ea 53 Ultramatic needs rebuilt 1ea 47 Manual three speed 1ea 55 and 56 T/L motors and Gearbox rebuilt various other items
