truck seal,
my dad put his on the truck lid, took it out of channel, so water would not get trapped.

Hi all. I also had this occur with the right side hinge about a month ago on my 56 400. I was about 120 miles from home but was fortunate to be able to insert the remnants of the rivet into the hole and close the trunk... It stayed closed there until I got home. I had a pair of spare hinges, but both were afflicted with the same wear in the same rivet/hole... I repaired the original hinge by welding the rivet back in place from the rear, making sure it was positioned correctly and clamped while I welded it. Hinge works perfectly now. I also did a left hand hinge ready for if/when this one fails... Photos below illustrate the old and the new...
