On my '41 120 I found that the steering box needed no adjustment, as the car has 47K on it. The problem was narrowed down to the rubber bushing in the pittman arm. It became mushy from exposure to long -term grease and oil contamination. I have a new one on the way made by Steele rubber products. When moving the steering wheel back and forth, the pittman arm was moving, but the link was not. Problem solved!
