And among the rarer of accessories, the Ace-style wheel shell covers.

Nice pictures and useful comments, thanks all. I spent most of today with the car. Hoping to get it closer to starting but my progress is hard to see. I did a lot of cleaning in the engine bay and other areas. I think perhaps I should start a Project Blog in the appropriate sub-forum, to keep this sub-forum clear for more pressing issues.
Everyone interested in the 1201 coupe, and its restoration, please look for a Project Blog to be commenced shortly. Cheers, John

You certainly didn't hijack it BDC; you really enhanced the discussion. No need to apologise!
I'm hungry for as much information as I can get on the Twelfth Series, and the coupes like yours and mine in particular, so if you've got more; please keep the pics and info coming! Cheers, John

That's really interesting, thanks BDC!
A few questions spring immediately to mind; The radiator looks swept back like a 14th rather than a 12th, or is that just an illusion on the small screen of my laptop? Is there any chance it would be an 818 body on a 14th series chassis? Or is my inexperience in these matters showing... Do you know where on the body the numbering as shown is located? Have you contacted the seller? To make sure it goes to a loving home... :) Cheers, John

Now I start to look a little closer I think you are right, that certainly looks more like a 14th series radiator shell. I don't think it's on a 14th series chassis, I think it's just the radiator shell.
I'm kinda curious where the numbers in the wood are located. I've seen a 38 super 8 not to long ago that had those numbers in the drivers side door. Maybe someone can educate us on that.

After studying the pictures a bit more, it looks like the number could be on the inside of the rumble seat cover.
Would a 14th series radiator shell bolt straight onto a 1201? If that's what's been done, is there more to this car's story?
