With our restoration shop working on the frame and body, Fred Kanter has decided to take part in the restoration himself. He will be responsible for the tear down, inspection and rebuilding of the Limo's original engine. Fred has already begun on the tear down of the engine by removing the accessories, cylinder head and oil pan.

Per Fred and I quote "there has been many advancements in technology since I rebuilt my mother's 53 Packard's engine 50 years ago. Back then I used a cinder block to sit on when working. Now with advancements we have light weight plastic buckets for sitting. But I will be using the same ridge reamer that I use on my mother's Packard" LOL

The engine when removed was stuck and upon further inspection water had found it's way into some of the cylinders from previous owner's neglect, but not down into the crank case which was a good thing. Fred is in the process of removing the crankshaft so that the piston can be removed. At that point the bores will be inspected and the necessary machining work will be done.

Thanks

Yes that is correct 327 9 main bearing (52 Patrician). Fred should have the crankshaft out before the end of the week and block completely stripped to prepped for cleaning.

Thanks
James

Progress, Progress, Progress
The two half's of the donor car's body is now comfortably resting on the newly stretched frame. With new body mounts in place and the 2 half's on, now our restoration shop has the task of reproducing the center section of floors, rockers and roof. Luckily the original center section of floor is in good enough shape to use as a pattern. For the roof we will be taking out a section of roof from another donor car to help speed up the process. Once the floor and the roof are completed we can start work in the B pillar post and start test fitting the doors.
Thanks
