Been too long to recall the details but of course the atmospheric side of the power cylinder must have a vent to atmosphere to admit/expel air. Yes, it has a filter - see the attached (you have a type K 13940, Type PFRS).

Thanks O.D., that certainly looks like the the clutch unit alright. What about
the brake units ? I don't see any place those filters would go or am I mis-understanding the device and the unit pictured handles both the clutch and breaks ? This is all new to me as you can tell !

The unit pictured is the brake booster. For 1934 only the Twelve had brake AND clutch boosters (two separate units) so if you also have a clutch booster and not a Twelve you must have a 1933 Eight or Super Eight. By memory the filter is a part of the face of the cylinder (non-vacuum end that the piston extends from).

Ahhh, OK, understood. I only have the 1
booster so that settles everything. Again O.D., really appreciate all your help as I'm learning all this stuff. Regards, Tom

Do you mean the illustrated parts list? That came from Bendix (who bought B-K) about 1965 when I visited them in Teterboro NJ looking for service information. There are more pages to it, though not in very good condition.
I also sometimes refer to the publication "Servicing B-K Vacuum Power Brakes" published by Bendix Products Division of Bendix Aviation Corp. in 1942, a copy of which I picked up years back. And of course the 1933-36 Parts List.

O.D., How critical is the rubber shaft ? cover ? I can't read the parts numbers very well but maybe it is SX 10738?
My cover is dried out, cracked and just slides around on the shaft and is no longer attached down toward the booster cylinder itself. This may be the least of my problems as I've just discovered it (the booster cylinder) and haven't checked it out at all. Are any of these parts still available ? Thanks, Tom
