Okay Brenda, the first thing you need to know is who made your distributor. Look on the side and there should be a small plate with all the information to get started. Use the picture as an example, this was from Elefant and he has a 48 Packard.

Good afternoon Brenda...Packard also used Delco distributors and you might find that your Packard has one.
All of the parts are most likely specific to the actual distributor in your Packard. I suspect that is why you are receiving different answers and part numbers...Sometimes working on classic cars will make you speak in short four letter words that are not Love! Ernie

Thank you mine is Delco and the boys on this site told me to go to Napa and get Echlin Coil and rotor. I am so glad I took back Duralast to Autozone.

You'll find you can get most of what you need for basic tune-up and other stuff at NAPA is you go in armed with the correct part numbers.
Also, RockAuto is another place that is great for that kinda stuff.
