I have a 57 Chrysler 300C, 45,000 miles, 2 4bbl carbs, all stock with mechanical fuel pump . After sitting 6 months over the winter it starts within a few seconds. No need for an electric fuel pump, no risk of warping the solenoid etc. The accelerator pump circuit works fine as it's supposed to.

In Brian51's post above, his cure for not starting after sitting for 2 weeks is to pour gas down the carb. I'd almost bet my Chrysler 300 that his accelerator pump in not functioning.

It is important to carefully diagnose a problem to find the cause

Fred, I'm glad for you that your Chrysler will retain fuel in the carbs for 6 months. I can assure you that the accelerator pumps on my dual Rochesters work fine, but after sitting for about 14 days the fuel bowls are nearly empty from evaporation. It takes about 25 seconds of cranking to fill them enough to start. Thus to save wear on the starter I use an electric to prime.
