Don't cry for me Argentina..

While a beautiful Packard, I would have a problem having this car given its previous owners. This also goes for the Capone cars and others owned by like people. I don't understand the attraction to gangster owned cars. JWL

That is exactly what makes the United State a great country ! You have the right to voice your opinion and purchase the goods and services that meet your taste and needs.

FYI- This car was never OWNED by the Peron's it was in the fleet when he came into office....It was simply the transportation provided for them by the Govt. of Argentina..and yes a beautiful car.

I agree, freedom of expression is what makes this country great. Too bad the citizens of Argentina could not express theirs.

Sometimes one must separate the art from the artist, so to speak. I think this is one of those cases.

Hi

Far more interesting than any notorious ownership or simply prior users in this case, is the custom phaeton body by Derham. By the late 1930's, most all carmakers had quit producing open phaetons for factory order. Anyone still desiring or needing such had to turn to the few custom coachbuilders that survived the Depression. Derham built a fair number of phaetons in the immediate pre-war years on a variety of carmaker chassis, even a '40 Studebaker President the company used for the 1939-'40 New York World's Fair events.
