I bought this car 2 years ago via Ebay from a guy in Long Island, NY. I've done a fair amount on it but am just now starting this blog. Other blogs have been very useful to me so I hope this helps others and also allows for people to follow along and offer their advice.

The info in here may jump around as I try to get my pictures and comments from the last couple of years organized so please bear with that.

Pulled the engine in August of 2016 due to erratic oil pressure indications(see posts above for more detail), low-ish compression and an opportunity to clean up some hard to reach places in the engine compartment. Here are 2 pics of that are mostly a before/after comparison. Engine is very close to being reinstalled

Here's a thing. I replaced all the brake hoses and am almost done replacing all the hard lines with CuNiFer lines. Not too bad of a job as it bends so easily. I bought the Duralast hoses, 2 for the front and the 1 for the rear. The fronts were drop in replacements. But the rear, Duralast 88284, was not. It is just a standard brake hose with male threads on the end that mounts to differential. But what was there (bolted to rear axle) is a integrated brake line union and hose combo. Couldn't find a direct replacement anywhere(sorry picture is upside down). Assumed someone replaced this a long time ago.

So I bought a brake line adapter (Earl's 972054ERL) that was similar so that the Duralast hose would work. Installing these is nearest priority right now so I can get done with brakes.

I've been holding off doing other things and it looks like it is time to rebuild the carb.

A few housekeeping items:

-It is a Carter WCFB carb. I know the Rochester should be what is on this 352, but it is not. The engine has a 5587 stamp on it and my car is a 5582 so somewhere in time the engine was changed out as well as the carb.

Hard to find any distinguishing numbers on the carb:
Air Horn 6-889, 0-986 (i have a listing that says 6-889 air horn is usu attached to WCFB #2281s)

I bought this rebuild kit (#1205) from Hal's. Seems okay, lots of gaskets but I was expecting more metal parts (like the other springs and the jets, etc).

Time to slowly disassemble and clean..

So, if anyone is out there a question:

The SC says to not mix the float needles from Primary and Secondary sides as the float needles and seats are mated.

First off, these aren't really needles (no point on them).
Secondly, the replacement ones in the carb rebuild kit are the same, so what do they mean in the SC?
Is it that the 'needle' will conform to the seat so once they are used don't swap them? (sort of like tappets and camshafts)??

Yes, that is referring to the old needle valves if you were reusing them. I notice that your new accelerator pump plunger is some sort of polymer. Might want to double check with the supplier that it can handle ethanol gas. I know the polymer plungers I have gotten from NAPA and others were not worth a tinkers's damn.
