Hello All:

The PPG is having a very special weekend on Saturday, June 8th and Sunday, June 9th..

Sunday is our annual Cars-R-Stars show and a color flyer is attached for your review. As always, we've invited a special group of cars to feature and this year it is "Game Changer" cars. These are the cars that set a new direction in auto history.

Saturday is more historically important - the stars only align every so often for the PPG to host this type of event. This is one of those times. We want to introduce you to some special guests during an Ice Cream Social on Saturday evening, June 8th. At the Ice Cream Social, we will have a short program, in a talk-show host interview format, with our special guests.

When Packard opened the proving grounds in 1928 it was also the home of the Vice President of Testing, Charles Vincent and his family - wife Lucile and three daughters, Dorothea, Cornelli and Roberta. We are lucky to have Roberta (Bobbie) visiting us along with two of her nieces (Cornelli's daughters) that weekend. The last time Bobbie visited her first home was back during the PAC National Meet in 2006. Bobbie Vincent will discuss what it was like living at the Packard Proving Grounds prior to World War II.

Additionally, Alice Valpey and her son, Wes, will also be in town to show her late husband's (Bob) 1929 Packard - Murphy-bodied - Town Car. We will hear from Alice on the Collier Trophy that they collected and subsequently donated it to the foundation.

The Robert J. Collier Trophy is awarded annually for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics and is America's highest aviation award. It was won by Packard in 1931 for the first diesel engine, the DR-980, specifically designed and built for aircraft use. The engine set numerous international records and the world's first flight of a diesel-powered aircraft took place from the aircraft hangar located at the Packard Proving Grounds on September 19, 1928.

Seating will be limited, so we strongly encourage anyone attending to RSVP by calling (586) 739-4800 (ask for Mary Anne or Rene) or you can click onto the Event Brite site hereeventbrite.com/e/2019-ice-cream-social-a ... proving-grounds-tickets-62090919612 and reserve your spot.

NOW is the time to come back to the PPG.

Hope to see you here. All the best, --Roger--
