What's missing on the right side of this wiper motor? Appears to be a vacuum hose or something. I am not finding a hose in the engine bay that is loose. If a vacuum hose, where does it originate from? Thanka

If you have the approx 49 thru 53 factory windshield washer the vacuum hose that supplies the washer would attach to that port. Turning the knob on the steering column opposite the way you would normally turn it to start the wiper motor activates the port. Holding the knob in that position a few seconds allows vacuum to supply the washer and pull the piston up to fill the washer with water. Letting go of the knob lets the water discharge and continued turning the knob in the normal direction starts the wiper motor to clean the windshield.

Thank you once again. For some reason the wipers are not working as they did a couple of years ago when I pulled the motor off the engine bay to be painted. I remember that they were awfully slow and I was planning to rebuild the motor if it was serviceable. Thinking that I will start with the supply lines and replace them. Steve

Replacing the hoses won't hurt but most likely the wiper motor is in need of a rebuild. The inner gaskets dry and the seal on the paddle edges dries out and sometimes shrinks or wears letting the vacuum leak past. Ficken Wiper Servicerebuildingtricowipers.com does an excellent job and turn around is usually good unless the virus thing has affected them.

There is also a factory procedure to lube the motor and while that may help short term, after all these years it will probably still require a rebuild. The lube procedure is on the last page of this bulletin. In place of the Trico oil specified use modern vacuum pump oil.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SC-VOL23NO10.pdf
