My 1956 Clipper has an Edelbrock carby, and some sort of filter which came with it, but well hidden inside the original style air cleaner body.

I guess from the pics you are doing something similar with the threaded stud etc. You mentioned a concern about intake noise. My similar setup seemed to be fairly quiet with the Packard air cleaner body over it. Hope yours will be, too.

Cheers

Brian

Shows added switch to keep Packard stock wiring.

P. and N will get 2 switches. Then a jumper Red wire will go to P.

Drawing diagram uses diodes. And 1 red wire.

HH56 suggested this in case someone reversed the battery. The diodes would blow.

Pic 3. 1/16 spacer will bring lever to center of push button

Pictures 1 and 2. Epoxy 2 levers. So lever under push button. Will carry the other.

Would prefer a soft brass rivet .

Cannibalized lever off digitkey . using 2 pole McMaster carr switches.

No. 2-56 x 1/2 ....and 3/4. For double switch.

2021 upgrade from 1960s diagram

Diodes would not blow but would be reverse biased if polarity was accidentally swapped. In that instance the PB motor would still work but start relay would not come in because the current from the P or N switches going thru either diode to bring in the relay and enable starting the engine would be blocked. A second switch on each button duplicates the original build which had dual contacts to add a separate circuit on those buttons. The added switches eliminate a need for the diodes because the switches restore stock functionality and wiring of the PB assy by providing the separate circuit.
