That's odd that I missed this post, and now the post has been vaporized. Thanks for mentioning it, however.

Honestly, mostly what I'm looking for at this stage is straight long wheelbase front fenders. I need two good driver's sides.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

I know it's a Peerless, but Three Ps and such. I wonder if this car is high six digits or seven.

All things Packard this week: Went from VA to FL by way of GA. Company bird hunt in GA last weekend. Took this week off to go to FL to see the kids: son, D-I-L, and grandson. So far, no Packard. But wait . . . .

There's a '47 Clipper 6 for sale in eastern NC, so I went to see that on the way home. Two hours out of the way, one way, but we do stuff like this. It was/is advertised as being a driver. So you can imagine my surprise when I was informed that the starter/solenoid had crapped out on it. There was no listening to it run, and there certainly was no test drive. And there was no hint of budging on the price. Old Guy (selling because of advancing age and illness with son helping to market it) bought it for X and put Y into it and is asking Z for it, where Z is equal to X plus Y.

So, our hero Wat offered 80% of X and told them to call him when they don't find any other buyer. Wat has rebuilt starters. In KY. Go figure.

Your stuff is gold, but mine is lead . . . .

The very one. Kinda two shades of maroon - the likely original bit and the repainted bit.

It did have cat paw prints in the dust on the windshield.

Cat paw prints?? Maybe Fred had already been there and looked at it!

Or maybe their version of Fred isn't quite ready to part with it.

Came to terms with the guy with the '46 sedan for sale in VA. Car has the best bones of any I have laid eyes on and/or bought. Translation: solid at the bases of the A-pillars. But here's the neat part: a solid trunk floor!!! It runs, drives, stops, and the electrics work, even the clock. I don't count the radio. I might look into buying blank-off covers if I can find any.

It doesn't rattle going down the road, except for the radio. Heh! I'll pick it up in mid-January.

Fred's reaction (you kind of have to look for Fred here):

I saw Fred right away! She certainly needs to get into everything, doesn't she? Can't blame her if the Clipper is as good as it appears.

Her ears give her away.

That car is parts. The floors and rockers are shot and there isn't a straight fender on it. A rusty bucket.

I didn't intend to get into any 282s but now I have three.
