I owned a 39 Cadillac 60 Special. It was a fine car. Not difficult to work on. I did a valve job which was somewhat involved, but straight forward. It had a lot of deferred maintenance and service and many unnecessary improvements. I went through all the systems and did maintenance and repair as needed. It was my first car project after a 40 year hiatus. It was my first car project upon retiring. I would compare the 60 Special to a Packard 120. The 38-41 60 Specials are recognized as "Full Classics" by the Classic Car Club of America. The Cadillac - La Salle owners club was very friendly and helpful. The weak point with the flathead Cadillac V8s is the cooling. A single water pump on the RH side does not circulate coolant very well to the rear LH side of the engine. Good choice.
