I think it did have a partition but just regular bench seats.

On the parking brake equalizer, it is as I thought but doesn't match the NOS cables I have! They are separate and end in a clevis while the parts book photo shows it as being one piece.

The Henney Super Station Wagon had a bench seat in the back with jump seats ahead of it and a small rear-facing seat at the back. Because of the rear-facing seat, it appears based on where the filler is that the gas tank was put into the fender.

I didn’t get much done on the car today as I wanted to fix my floor jack which I needed in order to lift the Patrician parts car a bit higher on its dollies so that I could get under it to remove the parking brake parts. Without the jack (which appears irreparable) I managed to get the pieces off the backing plate but that was about it. I thought the jack needed oil so I added some but it didn’t help.

Now that the pieces are off, I realize that they are incorrect as Henney had their own so I’ll have to order some. Even the screws are different with some models having standard 5/16-24 while others including the 1954 Patrician having the self-tapping 5/16-12 as shown here. All the other parts are the same, though so once I get them off, the parking brake is good to go (or rather, to not go!). Of course, there are no brakes in the drums yet but that's just a detail.

Here’s a shot of the parking brake equalizer pull but I’m posting this photo mainly to show where the rear compartment heater is located. Its bolts and hose connectors are clearly visible here although I suspect I’ll need to pull it out as the one on the right in the photo (left side of the car) appears to be bent. The hose was so brittle that it fell off in my hand with little effort and I have replacement for when I get that far. There is no partition in this type of military ambulance so the heater is a box on the floor behind the seat. There is also a fresh air intake on the roof.

Looking at the photo again, I just realized that the studs and hose connections must be very long indeed as the floor inside is flat wood and far above the stamped steel floor shown here!

A little more progress today. The ultrasonic cleaner arrived along with some ultrasonic carburetor cleaning solution so I gave it s try on one of the pieces. It didn't come out shiny as I had hoped but it is definitely clean.

Also in the box was the snap ring pliers which did the job perfectly on the transmission. I'm not sure how to remove the output shaft itself but I'll have a look at the manual to try to sort it out. I thought that it would come out with the housing but apparently not. The planetary ring gear does not seem move with slight prying or tapping but I wanted to look at the manual before trying too hard. The housing isn't heavy but chaining it to the lift freed up a hand as it takes two to get it off and the lift allowed me to take some of the weight off of it.

It was quite a struggle to get the parking brake equalizer from the Patrician parts car but I finally cleared enough space to work on it and had to get it higher to be able to get underneath, It is now installed where it needs to be which took all of five seconds. Of course, I need to clean it up a little more and run a thread chaser on the threads before actually installing it. The little cable sheath clamps, one on either side at the frame, were another matter and wouldn't budge so are soaking again in PBlaster.

Unless I missed something, the service manual doesn't actually say how to remove the overdrive tail shaft. It shows the housing being taken off, then the shaft is somehow off too! What holds it there? Is it just the ring gear and is there a trick for getting it loose?

There is nothing holding it although yours may be gummed up a bit. It should just pull off towards the rear.
Some of the free wheel cam rollers will fall out when the rear mainsheet and ring gear assembly is removed.
You will then be able to access the freewheel cam and planetary gears for removal using your new snap ring tool.

Thank you and good timing as I was just heading out to the shop (it's 106 out now) to get started. I suspected it was just gummed up but wanted to be sure!

I don't really need to remove the planetary as far as I know as I'm simply swapping the rear shaft and housing for a shorter one but if I do need to remove it, good to know the snap ring pliers will work! it's of a design I have not seen before.
