I expect it is this obsolete computer.
It's a WalMart Dell XPS 420 with Windows Vista.

Internet service here is DSL via an old copper line. Besides that, I'm out on the extreme fringe of the provider's service area and too far from the (old) substation for the DSL to ever work at full speed.

That situation probably won't change anytime soon. They (telephone co-op) are building a modern fiber optic system, but they are concentrating on areas where there are denser concentrations of customers. I'll be among the last to be reached by either of two companies that are offering service in this region, one being the telephone co-op and the other being an REA type electric co-op.
