This power steering pump is giving me a headache.

I have all the new parts (bearings and seal) and all seems fine until I put a light torque on the bolts and the shaft will no long turn.
All movements are fine until its assembled.

Any suggestions.

Page 22 of the steering section tells you how to check for clearances. Make sure that some end clearance actually exists between the two parts of the pump, and the housing.

If you can't move it at all, the inner part is stuck. If you can move it very slightly, the outer part is stuck.

All I can say is to make sure there is no debris, burrs, or misaligned seals/gaskets intruding into the gerotor cavity.

I would say outer rotor is tight.

I would pour trans fluid in there and turn it to make sure your lubricated.

Remove rotors .

After about 19 tries, I think I got the PS pump back together.
I checked all the measurements as the manual described and it was all within tolerance.
I think my problem may have been the large O-ring (seen in the top image) not staying in place and then being presses against the inner movements.

I used some Vaseline to hold the O-ring in place this time and re-assembled.
It does not seem to turn as easily as before but that may be my imagination.
Its setting now on the table with some fluid to see if it leaks.

A new question:
The blurry image on the bottom has some different door parts.

I know where the top two pieces go. They go inside the door, near the top, to prevent the window from going up to far.

The middle piece also goes inside the door, right about in the center to prevent the window from going to low.

I have no clue where the bottom piece goes. Any suggestions?

Thanks for those last images of the door parts.

I got the PS pump back in the car but have not started the engine yet to check it out.
If I did nothing else, with that pump, at least it appears that I fixed the leak.

Spent a few hours yesterday and today getting one of the rear, quarter windows in place.

I got my modified regulator in place for the first time. It was too wide at first so I had drill new hole and turn the motor about 45 degrees and trim off about 1/4 of an inch from the bolts and it fit pretty good after that. Its already wired up and working.

You can see in the image below that the window is not all the way up. It is rubbing on the ceiling line as it goes up and I do not want to force it to far. I am trying to adjust that heavy metal pivot piece (in the last image) to move it over a little.

Will try again tomorrow.

When you get the stainless in that is what will be a bitch.

I have not permanently put mine in but the window hits about 65 degrees up.

I don't use the rear windows. Right now cause I don't feel like messing with it.

You are kidding about those rear windows.
I spent another 2.5 hours today working on that rear, right-side window and making no progress.

Before I take it all back apart and try again I am going to tackle the left side and see if it goes any better.

The second pair of tires showed up last night. Will get them mounted soon.
Also started polishing the grill and headlight stuff. I have a dremel kit coming soon that will allow me to polish all the smaller spaces of the grill.

But nope.

That was supposed to say, "you were NOT kidding", about those rear windows.
They suck.
