Ultramatic Band Adjustment

The procedure for adjusting the low and reverse bands on my Ultramatic appear to be simple. The Serviceman's Training Book does not make mention of anything that needs to be done prior to adjusting the bands, which makes sense as the bands can only be activated if the car is running, and in those gears. Just looking for confirmation that is it is as simple as it appears. Loosen the lock nut, tighten to 20 lbs, back off 1 3/4 turns, tighten lock nut and Bob's your uncle!

They really had no cause to lie to you.

BUT, when doing that job I like to back the screws out all the way and install a new O-ring on the adjusting screw. Only about once every 70 years or so, so it is time. Saves a lot of puddles.

Thanks Ross! I didn't figure they were lying, but maybe something that was obvious 71 years ago isn't obvious today, like common sense! 😄
