Thank you but I believe I have the Carter figured out and it has a 1/8 NTP threaded hole so just needs a threaded nipple. It’s the Rochester that is now the question.

I had actually asked Dayton before posting here but they keep replying that Carter does not have an insert in the carburetor and that the 1/8 nipple will fit directly which, of course, I already know! It seems all of their replies are the same even though I’m asking about Rochester!

Thank you all who tried to help and I've found my answer! Apparently the supposed NOS carburetor with the inlet in the photo I posted is the wrong one. It should have this type with 1/8 NPT but the other type was apparently put in later when it was desired to eliminate the factory filter. I am trying to fix one in which someone ran what appears to be a 1/2 NPT tap and put in a different fitting with a hose barb.
