Any ideas what this letter "A" designation represents on the passenger side of my 115-C six-cylinder engine? It appears just before the numbers 5 7 37 (which may be the month-day-year) of production. Someone said the letter A might be the shift at the Packard plant that day of production. Just looking for some agreement. Also, the number 315412 appears just below the above sequence of A 5 7 37. Wondering what they represent too. The number on the driver's side pad of the engine is T54869. Thanks for any and all help. Steve Weaver

Unless someone were to make an educated guess (perhaps a work-shift code, for example), I doubt there are any records to indicate what the A refers too, if anything. The other is a casting date and casting number. You asked this question already and probably already got all the answers there are for it! T54869 is, of course, a 6 cylinder 115-C engine per the engine reference chart found here in the Literature Archive. If it's not on the chart, it's probably not known.

Thanks Don, I've asked so many lately that I just wanted to get a consensus of what everyone's thoughts were in case there was more information. Thanks for answering my questions.
