When doing seatbelts in my 51 200 recently I found the pictured thin metal tag under the front seat, does it have any significance to the car?

My seats in my 53 Cavalier have similar types of tags attached to them. I don't know what they all mean, but identify different attributes of the seat I think.

You know a car with a "Select-O-Seat" was made in the 50's! LOL

The 429193 is the part number for the bare spring assy used in some models before any upholstery work is added. Not sure about the MC unless it identifies the vendor who supplied the assy. Since you have one and don't need another, along with the Packard parts warehouse being defunct the tag is something of general interest but not needed for anything else.

A far more interesting and informative thing to find would be the build slip. That is a small piece of teletype paper a couple of inches wide by 8 or so long. Paper has one or two short lines of printed numbers and letters and maybe some handwritten bits.

In unmolested cars they are sometimes found taped on the metal top above the glove drawer or folded in a tight bundle and wedged somewhere in the narrow space along the length of the gas fill pipe and vent tube. A few have found them in odd spots such as under the carpet or mat on the forward angled portion of the transmission hump and one or two people have found them under the rear seat cushion or in the bottom of a door cavity. The paper will be brittle so if you do find a taped on slip be gentle when removing it.

Keep it in your car, and even better reattach it to the seat. The more complete and original your car is the better! It may even run better!
