For what it's worth I'm running 10w-30 Valvoline VR1 in my '56 400 with almost 90k miles. No smoke or signs of oil burning, and good oil pressure cold or warm.

In my '54 I typically run 15W-40 Rotella T4 because it's cheap. If I run 10w-30 in that car I get way more smoke out of the tailpipe. Worn rings probably. This last oil change I went with 20w-50 Mobil 1 to see how it did. So far seems fine. Oil pressure is the same and haven't noticed much smoke, if any.

My brother in law's '52 gets 15w-40 also. We're using Delo in his instead of Rotella to see if there is any difference. Same 327 engine.
