Making a new rod was a pitb.
Had to mill out rod that twisted off , then finish with a drill Was able to tap deeper into the carb body., now threading the rod, 1/4 20 die quarter rod. Thread would go into body. Perfect. But not a nut. Had to turn down rod. After 3 trys I got it right And 3 feet of rod Soaked carb , got it back together, Leak , and think this plug has leak since I got the carb. Always smelled gas. Jb weld for the time being. Packard has those as expans plugs, nope. Welch plugs. Attach file: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Gerry set me up.
I know what the top of gauge looks like now. Might seee if I can use top on my dads. Other news. Didn't find rear bumper springs. What i believe i found are front bumper springs,, I think my dad retired mechanical/electrical engineer.. thought the springs were fodder.. Extra 40 pounds of weight. And left them out . Front bumper is together.. Attach file: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What are those springs? Maybe your dad was right as I don’t recall seeing anything like that on a 1956 Packard’s bumper.
