I initially thought the same, and the lack of that puffing made me think that maybe I did have a valve issue. But that "puffing" isn't apparent because of the road draft tube. I plugged it for my leak down test.

I did that right after my initial compression test, and then pressured up each cylinder to confirm.

2-89/120
3-76/90
4-9/16
5-78/88
6-45/55
7-65/89
8-86/96

Definitely looks like a valve issue on the problematic ones. For some of the others that give a large difference, I would attribute that to cylinder wear.

Did you ream out any ridge at the top of each bore? Replace each piston in the same bore it ran in?

Yes, all pistons back in the hole they came out of.

No ridge at the top of the cylinder. Someone had been in the engine before me, I suspect probably back in the 80's before it was parked.
