This is the inner manual valve lever. To install the roll pin just drill a 1/8 through hole towards the left side of it in a convenient place, not where it will interfere with the set screw, then just tap a 1/8 roll pin in. That will keep it positively held in place. Just make sure you properly tighten the set screw and jam nut before you start drilling otherwise the alignment will not be correct. Once you have the roll pin in, you can leave the screw and jam nut in as they will never come loose. If you ever have to take the shaft apart, then it’s helpful to still have the set screw there to be able to align the holes for the roll pin for reinstallation again, even though the hole is already drilled. If the set screw hole is stripped, you will have to use some judgement on whether you can align it well enough to drill the roll pin hole. If it’s off, the shifter linkage could be difficult or impossible to properly adjust.
