I have acquired an R-9 overdrive transmission and plan to install it in my 1940 110 sedan. I am currently gathering parts. I have been having good luck finding parts. Can anyone supply pictures of a factory installation of where the relay is mounted on the fire wall and also a picture of the overdrive cable mounting and light on the dashboard.

Here are pages from the 40 fact book showing the indicator light and lockout knob locations. The light is part of the dash light switch and rheostat assy. I don't know if it takes a different assy if the car has OD or if any of the light components such as a red jewell in the knob center and a socket behind it are present in the non OD car assys but not wired or used. The lockout knob is positioned just to the right of the steering column and there should be a couple of unused empty holes sized for 1/4 inch screws on the bottom dash edge at the proper location. The cable exits thru the passage at the top of the firewall and routing on the engine side should follow the speedo cable to the right side transmission area. Here is a photo of the cable engine side I borrowed from Joe Santana's blog.

On the OD cable mounting, in addition to needing the cable you will also need to get the bracket which bolts to the crossmember in order to position and bolt the clamp which holds and guides the end of the cable housing to keep a straight shot to the lockout lever.

On the relay, I don't have a decent photo or good memory of the 40 relay location. I believe it is toward the left of the firewall but more toward the center and slightly higher than the voltage regulator. Perhaps someone else could take a photo of theirs and post it.
