Pre-war Bolt pattern + Rim size

Hello all, as a new member and new Packard owner, I'm pleased to have found this site with it's abundance of information; thanks to BigKev and all those who have so kindly contributed material. I await delivery of my '39 17th series 4 door Touring Sedan in the next week and so am doing some preliminary research... As this vehicle, while very well cared for and currently in fine running condition, it will need tires in the immediate future.
After searching as diligently as I can, I have only ascertained that the original tire size was 16 x 6.5 and a 205/75/16 or 225/75/15 (with a rim change; I have a set of Dayton wires that may fit the bill) tire will be suitable.
I have also noted that the bolt pattern may be either 5 x 4.5 or 5 x 5... the lug nut size has eluded me thus far.

Can some kind soul fill in the blanks?
I'm certain that I'll have many, many questions on this path as this is my first flathead powered vehicle... yikes!

cheers,
michael

Michael,

Welcome again to the website. No lug nuts on any Packard before 1956. Lug bolts are what you seek.

I will let the Pre-War gurus answer your other questions.

Pattern is 5 bolt on a 5 inch circle with an extra 5 smaller holes to match a locating pin on the brake drums.

Nice to see more Windsor built Packards here on the website. If you can post your Theft Proof Number (large number embossed into the firewall) and Vehicle Number (front firewire wall Patent Plate) I am sure Dave (Owen) would be grateful as he is building a list of them

Thanks,
