Went to the 59th annual Redding CT Fairfield County HCCA/AACA show yesterday. Up until last year this was a prewar only show, now allowing up thru 1958 but it was still primarily prewar with a good sprinkling of very early brass. Enclosing a few snaps of the some of the Packards present, more photos and info on PAC's Forum.

The 645 with Woodlites (and rear seat windscreen folded into the rumble was the 1929 NYC Auto Show car for Packard. The doctor's coupe is a 1st series Single Six, body by Pullman(?). The 34 phaeton and victoria are Twelves, the coupe-roadster a Super 8.

Not that I'm much for posting photos of my own cars, but here's one from my local club's Rodeo today that I particularly liked. For a mostly original car the old wagon is still looking pretty good. I'm preparing to be "bagged" and try the "over the cliff" game, but in reverse. No, I didn't win, but I did come in first in the zig-zag route potato spearing contest with the help of a great copilot. Not an easy game with a long wheelbase.

If you guys have local clubs that have picnics and don't go crazy car games, consider it - it FUN!

Dave, How much fun is it to drive a vehicle like yours all the way up to Conn? I know you don't go much over 60, but I would think you're humming along right with the car.

Hi Randy: I went via modern car to CT, that last picture was at an event today a bit closer to home. But to answer your question, I don't like to go much over 45 or 50, what with 4.69 gears, 5 inch stroke and babbitt bearings. But even with that limitation that car is such a delight to drive - very good road manners for a beam-axle car. Very light steering, never a shimmy though it certainly doesn't like potholes or pavement seams though still easy to control. Brakes are just superb, far better than my 56 Carib brakes. It is just so much fun to drive, and generally relaxing except for the occasional A-H you meet on the highways. I think I've put about 45,000 miles on it since I bought it, just a bit less than 1000 miles per year on average.
