Apparently the AACA Packard forum deleted the Packard x-ref that was there.

Search this website on "control arm bushing". More info than will ever want to know.

The TL cars do not have the same upper control arm as regular suspension and so you can't use them. Packard sold the complete upper control arm including bushings. 74-75 Lincolns use the same rubber bushing as 55-56 Packards. Someone figured that out years ago. You have to look up 74-75 Lincoln Continental and you will see the TRW number. This has been common knowledge for over twenty years - it just isn't listed at any parts store. That is why it is listed here.

Note that STANDARD suspension used a steel type bushing while TL uses a rubber bushing. Read the manual for details. Manual says TL bushings not replaceable. That is NOT true. Personaly i'd rather have the steel bushings but could not find them. So i used FB346 rubber."

It is not a matter of just preferring metal bushings, the upper control arm and upper control shaft are completely different. It would be like preferring pistons with 4 rings in a V8 rather than 3 ring pistons, then putting 4 ring 1930 Standard 8 pistons in the 4" hole of the V8. Aintagonnawork.

Yes they do. But why would anyone want to do that, teh silentbloc bushings do not transmit road noise, do not need lubrication. It would be a great leap backwards. To each his own
