I'm looking for information about the valve drive train type (timing chain, gears, bevel drive, something else). Thank you in anticipation!

It has a solid triple-rowed timing chain installed. Up to that time uncharted waters for the Soviet engine manufacturing, a prototype aside.
I will look for a suitable photograph.

BTW To reattach the casing cover looks easy but to do that the right way is a bit tricky. The width of the small gap around the shaft has to be measured by a feeler gauge by inserting the gauge into the gap and moving the gauge around the shaft. If one omits that step then the resulting sound after engine start would remind him. The sharp-edged sunk key works like a lathe tool!

Cordial thanks! The snapped timing chain looks like a bike chain with simple roller bearings. Do you know its recommended maintenance intervals?
One of my editorial colleague in Hamburg collects material in connection with Russian combustion engines design but the basic research proved difficult. No documentation, no forum, no contemporary witness and newspaper archives filled with nondescript articles, a rush of meaningless content, a special kind of blandness. Russky Packards are verbatim composed of 'long live Lenin, Stalin and Moscow'.

No, first and foremost it has been derived from the results of the engineering performance of the Packard Motor Car Company. And thereafter the ZIS assemblies have been taken as basis to improve the Soviet automotive engineering including truck engine development. Even truck prototypes equipped with 110 & 115 chassis and engine have been built.

M.G., replacement chains showed differences as seen below, the new structure of the chain links has been more detailed instead of compartmentalized and the design of the sprocket wheel was adapted. A photograph of an One-Eighty timing chain would allow an optical comparison.
As to the maintenance interval I will check the manual. For the purpose of continuous lubrication the chain touched a grease felt.
